Fibreoptic intubation is a technique for introducing a flexible, lighted tube into the trachea of a patient, with the aim of establishing and maintaining an airway. It may be used for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, such as administration of oxygen to assist breathing or induction of anesthesia prior to surgery.
