The endobronchial biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose lung cancer and other diseases of the upper respiratory tract. In this procedure, your physician inserts a tiny flexible tube called an endoscope into your airway through your mouth or nose. This long thin tube has a light and camera on the tip so that images can be seen on a screen. It also has a channel through which instruments can pass in order to remove tissue or fluid from inside the airways for examination under a microscope.
